Didn't happen last time - 1993 did it?

Public clashes between Ukrainians and Russians in the main square in Sevastopol. Ukrainians protesting at Russian interference; Crimean Russians demanding the return of Sevastopol to Russia, and that parliament recognise Russian as the state language. Ukrainian deputies barred from the government building; a Russian "information centre" opening in Sevastopol. Calls from the Ukrainian ministry of defence for an end to the agreement dividing the Black Sea fleet between the Russian and Ukrainian navies. The move is labelled a political provocation by Russian deputies. The presidium of the Crimean parliament announces a referendum on Crimean independence, and the Russian deputy says that Russia is ready to supervise it. A leader of the Russian Society of Crimea threatens armed mutiny and the establishment of a Russian administration in Sevastopol. A Russian navy chief accuses Ukraine of converting some of his Black Sea fleet, and conducting armed assault on his personnel. He threatens to place the fleet on alert. The conflict escalates into terrorism, arson attacks and murder.

Sound familiar? All this happened in 1993, and it has been happening, in some form or other, since at least the 14th century.
What will happen next? I predict that nothing will happen. There will be a tremendous amount of huffing and puffing of hot air; well-oiled muscles will be flexed and machinery moved about. Some kleptocratic Russian and Ukrainian ladies will have to put on hold their next shopping trip to Harrods or Gucci. But for the bankers, oligarchs and oilmen, it will be business as usual. They will still own big chunks of London. And, fortunately, their offspring will still be able to enjoy their elite education in some of the world's finest private schools cut-price, thanks to the generosity of the British taxpayers who have deemed those institutions to be charities.
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

I'm not completely anarmed. I have a spell checker.

And to be fair, it's hardly a battle of wits. You haven't even used yours.

Ah ok. It was the Russians. Naughty naughty. No culpability from the West and Neofacists then. Even after the "**** the eu" vid being posted online by the Kremlin. this seems like you only hear what you want to hear and are happy to be bottle fed by the western media.

Yep, a nice balanced Russian viewpoint there.

Pointing fingers at Russian propaganda while failing to listen to me pointing out the Western propaganda. This is the balanced view point you were on about?

A nice sig for me when this all kicks off.

I believe if you take you own advice and do a little research you will see both sides have been giving far more than a whiff of military intervention. But again, stick to your guns and swallow whole whatever the western press serve up. Nice and balanced.

Then you just descend into mindless insults and what had the makings of a good thread gets roadrailed by you and your moronic cheap shots.

My point? You are brainwashed by the western media and couldn't put a balanced argument together if you tried.

Only if you repeatedly ignore the background of NATO / EU expansionism, which I bought up very early on. I got that from looking at a map BTW, not from the media.

I'm quite capable of perceiving the bias in the statements from western politicians without the help of mr daydream believer thanks, the reason I'm not listening to you pointing out "western propaganda" is because you haven't. You've pointed out a selection of crackpot theories.

As I said early on a single warship and a couple of extra warplanes aren't going to be taken seriously by the Kremlin. You still seem to think this constitutes a military intervention and not an attempt by the US to settle the nerves of the nato partners.

The last link I posted was from that well known western cess pit the moscow times, an article that one of your bloggers decided to pick up and put a massive spin on the next day. In fact, aside from that I've posted very few links to media, only my opinions and statements of fact to back them up. The reason for this is that my opinions are my own. You may not think my view is balanced (perhaps because a number of other people agree with me) but I can assure you it's my own, and not derived from opinions in either Russian or Western media. In fact, on those occasions when I have been in agreement with one or the other (or your fave zerohedge for that matter) I've usually been a bit ahead of them.

Your trouble is that you're so obsessed with finding things that support your view (which appears to be entirely recycled from low grade extremely paranoid western media) that you are incapable of taking a step back, digging up some primary sources (i.e. statements & press releases that are usually spun and half reported in the press, maps, historical facts etc), thinking for yourself and putting together an opinion of your own. You couldn't eat a bag of chips with a pinch of salt.

Chairman Of Joint Chiefs: US Ready For "Military Response" In Ukraine | Zero Hedge

And now, as Bloomberg just reported, the US has escalated even further, citing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, who "has claimed that in the case of an escalation of unrest in Crimea, the U.S. Army is ready to back up Ukraine and its allies in Europe with military actions."
              All running to plan then.

Wow, what news.... So he said that the US would comply with their treaty obligations if the conditions to trigger those obligations were met... You seem shocked that he didn't say "Wot, that treaty we signed? Nah, forget about it".

Since Ukraine is not a member of NATO, I'm struggling to see how this means they are ready for a military response in Ukraine. What the article you linked to says (but strangely omits to bold) is that he was saying to NATO that the US would honour the treaty - in other words giving reassurance to places like Poland.

Come on Suity, have all of your recent posts been a massive troll?

I fail to see how after taking a load of abuse off Doodab, I'm the troll.

The point you are missing here is how can the US ask countries like Iran and Syria to disarm and sign similar treaties if the don't honour this with the Ukraine. That is the answer to your question.

                    Wake up.

The NATO guy is talking about NATO treaties, Ukraine isn't a NATO member.

You willfully distort any public statement made by any politician and have done for weeks yet you constantly accuse the media of bias and propaganda and others of falling for it, either to get a rise out of them or, if you aren't trolling, because you are an idiot and actually believe the wilful misinterpretations you keep linking to. In my case you've also wilfully ignored statements I've made that are critical of the western media in order to sustain your baseless accusations of being influenced by "western propaganda".

I have given you some gentle teasing about the queen after you boasted about "trusted sources" and backed it up with a 20 minute video of a crackpot describing how the British empire was behind a plot to start WW3, devalue the dollar and kill everyone on the planet. If you really expect to be taken seriously after that then I take back what I said about the trolling, as you are clearly a mug.
