So wtf do you get in return for a PCG subscription - besides a talking shop?
    just askin like...
Most people get a range of decent insurances - as advertised - and the package moves with the times. Also access to various legal services and, potentially, £millions of support should HMRC ping you with their Magick Wand. You also now have access to corporate level discount schemes for many things.

    And, yes, a talking shop.

Clearly you are ignorant of the fact that talking is a method of communication, involving sound to carry messages. Its also a writing shop [another method of communication]. These both imply inverses such as listening and reading [Google is your friend].

Without these we would be sadly ignorant of your superior cleverness, intellect and general contribution to the debate and general self-aggrandisement.

    just mentionin like . . .

3.The ‘Check of Employer Records’ Letters which are the precursor to an IR35 Dispute

The limit of professional fees for any single claim is £75,000

      Tax and Legal Helplines
Our members have access to expert guidance for tax issues (business hours) and legal questions (24/7)

      Lobbying

PCG’s raison d’etre is to lobby on behalf of members at local, national and European levels. We have an expert lobbying team who make sure your voice is heard on every subject that could affect your freelancing business or your activities as an independent professional. We’ve been successful in watering down or negating a variety of proposals which would have harmed contracting in the UK, such as the Agency Workers Regulations and we strive to make sure that your interests are taken account of when the UK Government or Europe are considering new legislation or regulations.

      Business Interruption
These benefits are only available to PCG Plus members

      Jury Service
We all have to do our civic duty, but for an independent professional this can come at a high cost. PCG’s Jury Service Cover allows a member to make a claim if the they have to take time away from working to take part jury service. We’ll compensate you for up to a maximum of 10 days away from your client work.
To calculate the daily amount payable, the member will need to provide details of the length and value of the current contract/engagement.
      Limit: £300 per day

      Tax Compliance meetings
It can be a bit galling to have to take time off fee-earning work just to meet with the taxman so PCG will compensate a member if they’re taken away from business to attend meetings with HMRC and/or the PCG’s designated expert advisor.
To calculate the daily amount payable, the member will need to provide details of the length and value of the current contract/engagement.
      Limit: £500 per day

      Agency or client default
If your client or agency goes into administration and you’re not paid for work undertaken, PCG will compensate you for the amount your company is owed up to a limit of £7,500.
In addition to the individual claim limits, PCG has an aggregate limit of £500,000 to cover all agency or client default compensation in any one calendar year with an aggregate limit per individual agency or individual End Client of £100,000.

Agency fails to honour a signed contract
Sometimes agencies just get things wrong, so PCG will compensate a member if:

•the contracted role is not as described by the agency and/or contracted for by the member and the member’s contract is terminated by the Agency
•the agency terminates without the required notice period stated in the contract
•the contracted role does not exist or is withdrawn after the contract is signed but before the on-site date

      Limit: £1,000

      Illness/injury
If bad luck happens – a broken leg or a dose of the ‘flu PCG is there to help out a little with compensation for illness or injury for a member who misses out on work for an extended period of time.
If a doctor or hospital certifies that the member is unfit to work for three weeks or more, as long as their engagement started a minimum of four weeks prior to the extended absence.
      Limit: £1,500 per claim.

      Business Services

      Membership bolt-ons

      •Professional Indemnity

As well as Standard or Plus membership PCG have negotiated a special deal for professional indemnity insurance – this is an insurance policy which covers you from proven fault claims and is sometimes required by clients and is often a wise investment even when not explicitly required. PCG’s deal allows you to choose the level of cover you’d like and offers substantial discounts from retail prices.
      Accountancy Services

Another bolt-on available to members is a special deal on accountancy services from PCG Accredited Accountants – accountants who have passed PCG’s strict training course and assessment on IR35 and other contractor-specific requirements.

      PCG Advantages
By taking advantage of the combined buying power of PCG’s 22,000 members, the ‘PCG Advantages’ scheme offers thousands of consumer discounts including Apple products, Dell hardware and software, gym membership, and cash back at a variety of stores such as Dixons, PC World and Sainsbury’s. A regular user of this service could easily save more than the PCG membership fee every year!

      Debt Recovery
When a client or agent doesn’t pay, it can be a real pain trying to get the debt paid. That’s why PCG has arranged a great deal with a leading UK and International Debt Recovery and Credit Control company, Safe Collections. The Forums
PCG’s forums are a vibrant online community where there’s a bit of this, a bit of that and sometimes a bit of argy bargy. As well as a great source of knowledge and wisdom based on the real-life experiences of PCGers, there’s also a place to let off a little steam when you need to take the pressure off and share views, thoughts, ideas and tales, tall or short, with hundreds of your fellow independent professionals.

      Toolkits for contractors
From contract, invoice, dividend and Board meeting templates to mortgage calculators, business risk spreadsheets and how-to guides, PCG has the lot and PCG members have access to them free of charge. Our Guide to Freelancing, which takes you the whole process of starting up all the way to closing down, is widely regarded as the best single resource in the industry. For first time contractors there’s even a comprehensive suite of bolt-ons to your membership – we’ll set you up with a PCG Accredited Accountant who’ll look after your company structure, VAT and PAYE registration and all the other bits-and-pieces you need to get your freelancing business started with minimum fuss.

      Toolkits for clients
Clients sometimes need guidance too, and PCG is there for them. Want to make the best use of a freelancer? Need to ensure your company complies with all the rules and regulations? Then PCG’s guides are an essential. For both hiring managers and procurement professionals the wealth of knowledge about how to engage contractors to help your business is second to none.

What odds are you offering for NLUK actually getting elected?

BTW, what is NLUK's PCG user name?
