The best way of shifting Britain towards greater economic rationality would be to retain the union and pound but to restructure the country into a federation. Each nation – Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland – would be given its own parliament, extreme devolution and the power and responsibility to raise and spend all (or almost all) the money themselves. The pan-UK federal government would retain control of foreign policy, defence and monetary policy.

Now that I agree with to some extent. It seems to work very well in Germany where individual states raise taxes on top of the federal taxes, and of course the US does something quite similar.

Exactly, I counted 45 members of my close family on benefits who are voting to stay in the UK.

I thought Scotsmen were supposed to be tight as a ducks bottom anyway. Not my experience with my Scottish friends I have to say, they aren't wasteful but they aren't tight.

Stereotypes do stick for longer that superglue.

I'll not digress but the generosity, willingness to assist have be the accolades I've associated with fellow northerners whereas Londoners wouldn't give you the time of day.

A month ago I would have agreed with you.

Still whatever happens I reckon Scotland will receive more powers to govern it's own affairs.
