Anyone know anything about agency or client black listing?

It depends on the size of the agency and whether they consider their role as more than just finding a body. I know a couple of agents who won't touch some contractors, based on their past performance and reputation. But those agencies are more niche providers who have a bit more of a reputation to protect.

One of those used to get a CV from someone I know every week for a different role, and they went straight into the shredder because of her reputation.

And probably dead in the water. Fact is one mans twat is another persons mate so just saying "No we are not touching you!" is dumb from an agency point of view. A few years ago I ****ed off a real charlatan at a client so he sacked me for christmas thing is by annoying him I cheered up three or four other parties who all though he had it coming. So I got a six month job out of them for a christmas present just for the entertainment value

So I had a whole week off site then came back and then spent another six months pissing this idiot off from above till I left. I still get calls to go back so given that behaviour no there is no such thing as a black list and any twat agent that mentions one needs to be reminded that most of the people they speak to were there before him and will still be there when they have gone back to double glazing sales…

The average agent would put a tin of spam forwards if they thought there was money in it.

I have good relationships with a couple of niche agents having done most of my contracts through the them, my experience is that once they know you are not going to let them down they will put you forwards for anything you say you can do and work hard to sell you if they think they can close the deal and make money out of it. Of course if you **** up and embarrass them they will think twice the next time.

Its a sales organisation. They'd literally flog dead horses to a stupid enough client. Thinking abput it, given the aptitude and attention span of some agents I've dealt with they probably would believe the dead horse was a good match for a role too.

I know some agents personally and they are quite clear that they don't have blacklists and they wouldn't consider it a good idea. Think about it; they're in business to make money, just like you. If you put people on blacklists and then, even worse, share that information with others, they're likely to find out and then put you on a blacklist and tell all their mates and damage your business.

You need to look critically at your skills and CV, maybe make an appointment with an agent you've worked with in the past to see if he can advise, or do what I did; hire a professional copywriter for a couple of hours to help you build a good CV and covering letter.

Do not start believing that there's a conspiracy against you (such as a blacklist); you are not important enough for people to spend their time conspiring against you. Plus; anyone who's done several contracts is likely to have done a couple where it didn't go so well as they'd hoped and agents and clientcos know that anyway.
