It would be worth doing anyway thought, wouldn't it? Just in case the people do not check for it? -
Oh indeed most definitely, I feel it does go in your favour when people view your profile.Originally posted by MyUserName View PostIt would be worth doing anyway thought, wouldn't it? Just in case the people do not check for it?
I only mentioned it as after I landed my current gig the guy who interviewed me commented on the amount of recommendations I had and he then told me he checked to see if I had recommended those people who had recommended me, of which there were only 2 in total. In Scooter we trust

It's always good to get recommendations, at least it shows you are able to build relationships and get on with people!Originally posted by MyUserName View PostIt would be worth doing anyway thought, wouldn't it? Just in case the people do not check for it?Comment

Yes it would. If some of your skills have been checked off by lots of people then I doubt very much whether anyone is going to go through checking the names of everyone and cross-referencing their profiles.Originally posted by MyUserName View PostIt would be worth doing anyway thought, wouldn't it? I legitimately rate people I have worked with if certain of their skills have impressed me. They have rated me, of course, as I'm just an all-round superstar. The only reason we've rated each other is because we both know each other and what the other is good at.
However, I also see nothing wrong with, and have recommended to others, that they speak to their contacts and ask if they would endorse certain skills, if getting those boosted will be more useful for your job hunting than other skills. Worst case, they'll say "no", but I got a bit sick of people endorsing me for skills that are useless to the type of work I do.Comment

So I have plenty of recommendations, out of courtesy I recommend others on their strengths in return - pick out their positives and only in some cases give no recommendations at all (when they are completely pants).Originally posted by The Spartan View PostNope it just shows that people are happy to recommend me

If they ask for a recommendation and are pretty good at what they do then it is a no brainer of course, but on the other hand if they don't ask then they don't get one.Originally posted by NorthWestPerm2Contr View PostSo I have plenty of recommendations, out of courtesy I recommend others on their strengths in return - pick out their positives and only in some cases give no recommendations at all (when they are completely pants). In Scooter we trust

The only rule I have that's worth spreading is I don't connect to pimps - they want to suck your connections dry and give them your job and pester them with irrelevant offers.
They still can through premium accounts, but they will think twice as it costs money.
So if you can don't add known pimps to your networks.Comment
