Welcome
Welcome to the world where the majority of us are already are, well done with your 1st tip, only 5000 odd to catch up the rest of us.Originally posted by MarillionFan View Post:-)
Took MF02, MF03 and MF04 out to a local Chain restaurant this evening. It's a simple affair and good for the kids. We had vouchers 'of course' and ordered accordingly. The waitress basically explained how to get the best deal out of them also pointing out where the till system didn't charge for kids choices but did on others. She recommended the food, got the kids extra bits and pieces, was attentive to our table and others and frankly compared to the crap service you get in UK restaurants was top notch and actually better than many US ones. She'd only been doing it part time for a while.
After vouchers the meal came to £22. I paid the £22 and then put £50 in her hand. She was gobsmacked and got emotional. If I still had shops I would have hired her straight away.
What a refreshing change.Comment

Similar. When I finished a contract at the House Of Commons with another contractor we took 6 permies out with us to a subsidised MPs restaurant across the road. As it was out of their term time normal staff could go.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostWent out with a bunch of contractors once at the end of the project. In a country where tipping is quite rare, we tipped the waitress (who did an excellent job) 10% of the bill. We'd been drinking Dom Perignon at £75 a bottle (it was quite a long time ago...), so she was extremely happy with a tip that wasn't far off her weekly wage.
Three course meal of the highest quality, waitress service throughout, 6 bottles of wine in a stunning locations, the meal for 8 people came to around £20 a head on those rates. We gave her an extra £100 on top of the paltry £160 bill & again she was gobsmacked. Biggest tip she'd ever got in the years she'd worked there.
And yes, I expensed it.

I was travelling on the tube once and one of those musicians came on and put on a spirited display using his guitar and harmonica. People fished out a few change to give him but one Chinese guy took out a hundred quid ( or one of those big notes ) and handed over. The guy started sobbing but before he could thank the guy he had gone off since his stop had come.Vote Corbyn ! Save this country !Comment

I think there are other things you're not telling us. How many pieces of flair did she have? And of course, would Mitch?Comment

There's a real anti-Karma feeling about this thread.
It's one thing to contribute, it's quite another to publicise one's generosity, which makes me think it's nothing of the sort.

I tend to get tipped by the staff as I'm such a nice customer
