Let's wait a couple of years and see what %-tage it will become

In the year they went into the old second division they still had the highest weekly attendance. Obviusly success drives popularity and city will/have started picking up fans. In a way its a good thing ton have this period of decline as it is the only way that anybody would be able to rid the club of the Glaziers - what's left of the club once they have gone remains to be seen though.

I doubt very much Rooney wil be there next year and perhaps that's why mata has been brought in now. I think we were almost this bad last year. There are 2 differences this year

1 - RVP was slotting goals away and masking the fact that we were leaking goals and had no midfeild.
2 - Scholes was still able to play the passes needed to beat the lesser teams - He wasn't up to it against the big boys, but against the smaller ones he had the time to play the right ball. We have literally nobody who can do this at the moment and nobody in midfield who can actuallt score on a fairly regular basis. This was shown brilliantly by Carrick last night when he tried to pass the ball on the edge of the area, when a shot would have been a better option.

Out of the current squad I'd keep the goalie. I thought evans and Smalling had an OK game. Buttner and Rafeal were pretty hopeless. Evra and Rio are passed it and Vidic hasn't got that long left in him either. Cleverly is rubish and along with Young should be flogged. I'd keep and play Zaha. Januzai I'd keep. Valencia and Nani can be good on their day, but unfortunately their days seem to be getting further apart. I'd keep them simply because we need the players. Wellbeck I'd sell as he is just rubbish. RVp and Rooney I'd keep, although I suspect that they will look to leave. Hernandez is handy to have on the bench. Giggs is passed it also. Phil Jones needs to learn a position and needs to be given a run in the side.

I'd also bring Powell back off loan - our midfield is tulip and needs all the help it can get.

So a poll with a sample size in the hundreds, that used the definition as Manchester to encompass all of Greater Manchester (Bolton, Wigan, Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside, Bury, etc) that also lacked any means of quantifying what a fan was is a defenitive verdict. Ok.

City, regardless of what you’d like to believe or not, have sold out their ground of almost 48,000 for each and every league fixture so far for the past couple of seasons, which has prompted the planned expansion to 60,000. Without the expansion, that’s the 4th highest in English football. Considering we have the highest domestic football attendance record, outside of Wembley, that shouldn't really be a surprise. I'd also like to point out United's highest attendance was also a game at Maine Road. Not too bad for liddle Citeh.

Still, given you couldn’t find your way to Manchester from the home counties without the use of Google Maps, never mind Old Trafford, I think this is pretty much lost on you and, if anything, shows why Anyone But United, is probably the football team of choice for the vast majority of neutrals.

Graceless in victory; embarrassing in defeat. You enjoy this season, because I certainly will.

The sample size may be small - do you have a better one that proves the opposite?

The only one done with any substance was by MMU and was completed whilst City were still at Maine Road, both clubs had a third of the number of season ticket holders that they have now and still included data from across the county rather than the city itself.

Without the oil money you'd still be faffing about at the lower end of the table. The difference between City and Chelsea and every other club in England is that the other build their success based on the revenues that the club generates. City can go out and buy a player for a huge amount of money and if/when it doesn't work out they can just do it again out of the unlimited supply of cash that their sugar daddy has.

That we may - but United have just spent in excess of £37m on a player using revenue generated by a stock market flotation whilst servicing debts of £700m to their American overlords. We won't get into the sugar daddies United have had in the past (nor the meat scandals, nor the rags, nor City bailing you out when it came to Manchester Central, nor City bailing you out when you had no ground, nor City bailing you out when you had no floodlights) as no doubt you'll just stick your fingers in your ears and rock gentley back and forth when you realise football didn't begin in 1992.

What makes you think I'm from the home counties? FWIW I started supporting United when I was in the infants at St Bridgets in Beswick - where your clubs little council house is.

As for spending big on players - The difference is, if Mata does not work out, United don't have another 37m to spend on another to try out, in the same way the Liverpool, and Aresenal can't. City and Chelsea can due to their owners limitless pockets.
