Modern Germans probably can't answer it either and I don't think there's much anti-semitism in Germany now; it's sort of 'not done', for obvious reasons. A few might point to Nietzsche, but the anti-semitism was there before him.And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014 -
Steriotypically, Jews have money. At the time Hitler was coming to power the country was on it's knees, and the Jews were prospering and looking after their own. He didn't like that.

Well yes, but anti-semitism was strongly present in Europe well before HItler. Hitler just harnessed it for his own ends.Originally posted by suityou01 View PostSteriotypically, Jews have money. This can be seen as a positive rather than negative thing - ever heard of the concept of the "Jewish Dollar"?Originally posted by suityou01 View PostSteriotypically, Jews have money. If you look at the history it's quite true that anti-Semitism has been/is far more of a problem in Eastern Europe. Unlike in GB where they had integrated well before about 1850, many considered themselves a separate nation and rejected wider society.
Look at any conflict or tension and it is rare that one side is entirely blameless, people have a tendency to grossly oversimplify these issues.
As for the Anelka thing, hard to say what he had in mind. In absence of any known anti-semitism, maybe should have had a bit more benefit of the doubt and got a warning. Looks like an overreaction.Last edited by xoggoth; 21 January 2014, 12:40.bloggoth

It can be, but many other nations have a history of anti-semitism too, e.g. Russia, France, Spain, Portugal, (ancient) Greece, (ancient) Rome etc.Originally posted by NorthWestPerm2Contr View PostThis can be seen as a positive rather than negative thingComment

i.e. a Jewish economy where the dollars enter into the circle but they don't leave it as it just circles between them. Promotes growth at a community level.Originally posted by suityou01 View PostI have not.Comment
