If they are found guilty does he automatically get his money back or is that a separate case (serious question)?

I am reminded of a school friend's father about 30 years ago. He came back to one of his properties to find a bunch squatters there. He told them to leave and they looked at this short middle aged businessman and laughed in his face.

He left and went to a local nightclub and the asked the bouncers if they fancied a private job (this was before bouncers were licenced and having a criminal record seemed to improve job prospects) . The next day a bunch of 18 stone bouncers went to the house and 'explained the situation' to the squatters, suddenly a short middle aged businessman seemed the wrong person to mess with.
