the bible contains correlated profundities that once realised send a chill down the spine.

Any sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology: the events alleged in the Bible may have taken place, but they were used to create major businesses for handful of people.
Some of the information in the Bible/etc may well be true - but its interpretation is that of primitive people who did not know better.Comment

it's not so much the events which HAVE taken place, it is the events which ARE taking place and which WILL take place...Comment

And what's suprising in this when you have some looney President of the only superpower who thinks he talks with God? Heck, of course he would act in line with the Bible, take similar fanatics in Israel and Islamic countries and you have got a very unstable situation: one solution to this is to genocide one or all parties in question, or (much cheaper) to remote the root of the problem: religions that drive people crazy on all sides.Originally posted by scotspineit is the events which ARE taking place and which WILL take place...
If those guys who blown themselves up on 7/7 were sure they won't go to heaven, then it is highly likely they would not have done that.Comment

And I tell you this - if I ever meet that cleric that took advantage of my friends father's death to convert her, I'd beat him as much as I physically can: that scumbag ruined more than one life by exploiting them at their most vulnerable moment. At this point its not even important if there is such God - I refuse to accept such cruel God, even if I believed he existed, which he obviously does not.Comment

And scots - I respect your view on religion, you can believe it if you want - its fair play. But what's not fair play is to start wars or blow bombs up in the name of religion, or convert people to religion at the time of their desperation - at the time when they can't make an informed decision: Chico's of this world have got blood on their hands and given current climate of terrorism that is done in the name of religion I think its really time to start looking at the root of the problem - religion, rather than tryign to treat side effects.Comment

Indeed, say Greek's religion was by far more human, the Gods there were even socialising with humans.
I think I will live to see this question of religions closed for good.Comment

i doubt it. i would say again, don't confuse the behaviour of man made churches with what is explained in the bible...Comment

If I lived 500 years ago I'd take words of the Bible and clerics at their face value.
If I lived 50 years ago I'd probably take words of the Bible at its face value, but distrust clerics who push it.
But right now I won't believe either - we know very little about universe but we know its huge, heck, billions of planets out there many many lights years ahead - why are they not mentioned in the Bible? Who created them? Were they so insignficant to omit?
Its a pity the whole thing is designed in such a way that those who die supposedly go to heaven and hell, and nobody - not a single person, comes back to say it was all true. Very convinient scriptures, certainly written by people who knew what they wanted.Comment
