I was also supposed to start new contract yesterday. The excuse I received from agency on Friday at 5:25pm was that 'they're not ready for me'.. they need to set up IDs, logins and a computer.Originally posted by pmeswani View PostWell, I was supposed to start yesterday, and I am stuck at home waiting to start. Apparently the client and the resourcing company haven't sorted out the commercials.
The first two are bulltulip and have never stopped me before, but the last one I can understand due to their secure network, otherwise I'd have used CS LTD laptop

I would have at least expected the respective parties to have all the commercials in place before offering a contract. I know I'm not a permie and cannot ask for payment for work not done, but they have put me in a position where I cannot look for other opportunities. I don't think they will even offer a retainer fee to stop me from looking elsewhere. If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here.Comment

I take it you've signed already then. That is awful they've issued your side of the contract already.Originally posted by pmeswani View PostI would have at least expected the respective parties to have all the commercials in place before offering a contract. Can you not annul the contract because the start and end dates have/will change?
I've done this before due to delays in waiting for security clearance whereby the original start date has passed.Comment

Sadly yes. I was under the impression that the commercials were all in place. I will bring this up with the consultancy company tomorrow to see what they say. I had thought about asking them to cancel the contract and ask me to sign one once the commercials had been agreed with their client. If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here.Comment

Sorry to hear that. Have they given you any indication of how long you will have to wait ?Originally posted by pmeswani View PostWell, I was supposed to start yesterday, and I am stuck at home waiting to start. Apparently the client and the resourcing company haven't sorted out the commercials.

Nope. But if things don't move tomorrow, I will ask them to cancel the contract as, effectively, no work is currently available and ask them to get me to sign a new contract once work becomes available. If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here.Comment
