    Bummer

Hope the peasants get their damn mess sorted out soon. Threaten to sue them for being forced to watch Jeremy Kyle and Loose Women instead of working

Well, I had another agency asking if I am available for an interview. I told them frankly that I am in a contract that is currently in limbo and that I will get back to them as soon as I know (before Friday). I have told the consulting / resourcing company that I have been asked to attend another interview and that I need to know where I stand. It may be a bad move on my part, but as it stands, I need to force the issue and either get them to release me from the contract, or get me on site.
If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here.

I think you are doing the right thing. They must realise you cannot just sit around waiting, and you are keeping them informed. - good luck with the interview

I would have attended the interview and if the other role offered I would have gone back to the first agency telling them if they don't have a firm start date the contract is frustrated.

Maybe this is an ethical / morale issue that I have in that once I have signed a contract, even though I am not onsite yet, I could arrange an interview on a day that I start. I could always argue that I have a doctors appointment, but I am of the believe that honesty is the best policy. It may be argued I am not cut out for contracting, and that may be true, but I don't believe in breaking the honesty rule if I can avoid it.

I would follow your logic up to the point things go wrong. I was offered the current contract and once I accepted it I cancelled the other interviews.

If however I wasn't on site on the first agreed start date due to their mistake my loyalty would be gone and I would be interviewing.

If you sit there waiting how long are you going to wait for? A day or a week or a month.... Very quickly you are looking at a large gap on your CV and no money in the bank account....

In other news its remarkable how many other people still haven't read the entire thread..

There is a point at which I will walk away. If I am not onsite by Monday, I will ask for the contract to be terminated so that I am free to look elsewhere without having a question mark over my head.

And yep, it is surprising how many people haven't read the thread yet.
