What? you mean you would actually have to work hard?

I do not see what the problem is. The experience of working in a team environment is the perfect start for someone wanting to move up.

Both extremes are wrong, one is institutional incompetence and unionisation, the other is just a race to the bottom till we join the sweatshops if the world

FFS I find myself in the horrible position of siding with vetran. The point of that program is not the pay but the onerous and exploitative working conditions. Since this has been an issue in other Amazon depots I'm inclined to think its an issue within the company.
We've all worked in menial jobs but for all of us there was the expectation of something better.
Some people have no choice and there is no reason to treat them badly. In fact its very short-sighted of AMazon, all the research shows that better -treated employees are more productive. I remember working in an M&S depot in the 80s: free doctor, dentist, subsidised food even for part-time staff. Not a surprise that loyalty was high , turnover was low.
        Hard Brexit now!

If you were working in a warehouse what would you do?

if I worked in a warehouse I would use the experience to better myself. You comparing working in a UK warehouse with a sweatshop in say India is totally different. In the UK there are choices.

I am sorry but your attitude is so typical of the condescending liberal left view that they think they know what is good for everyone else. When you climb down from your ivory tower you might like to ponder that the people working in the warehouses are as intelligent as you, harder working and will one day (if they so wish) will become more successful than you.

If there are fewer jobs then before you all start whining that people these days have fewer choices, then let me once ask which "profession" is it that has automated so many of the jobs that no longer exist?

I would rather employ an amazon warehouse worker than some mollycoddled twerp from M&S. If they don't like the conditions GET ANOTHER F**king job"

Unfortunately not everyone is intelligent enough or has the aptitude to better themselves.

Those with intelligence will eventually be able to get out of the Amazon Warehouse to work for a company that treats them better. Those without will end up on the dole.

Places like M&S are very picky about who they employ if you don't have a customer service ethos and don't have the ability to use some commonsense then they don't want you.

Amazon only needs people who can follow instructions without thinking.

Most jobs around now require the M&S skills.

If you are thick and stupid, isn't an Amazon warehouse job going to be perfect for you?
After all you are not exactly going to get bored because you don't have two brain cells to allow yourself to become bored.

it doesn't fit with the "perfect idealism" of the chattering liberals.

Has it ever occurred to you that some people are task orientated and the Amazon job suits them?
