Don't confuse the poor sod.
I would say the chief benefits of socialism is as a buffer to help protect against 'the unacceptable faces' (or is that faeces) of capitalism.
Mr. Churchill said ...

Most capitalists, seeing the same thing, do not say: 'All men should have so much.'
They're more likely to say, 'I should have so much' and not comment on what others should have.
