    I like the elance idea.

I remember that when I wanted a logo for Plan B, the plan A people were no longer around. For that reason I'm not going to search for the name of people I used for plan B (in 2005) since I've no doubt they've phoenixed by now. I feel sure that if you Google for logo design service you'll find many worthy companies.

Twitter paid the designer less than $6 for the rights to use the famous "blue bird" logo.

Sounds like Wordpress is the way to go then and get a logo designed by a 3rd party.

Anyone point me in the right direction regarding Wordpress - how do I go about using this? Is it something a webhosting service can provide etc? Any more advice/suggestions/companies?

Not sure if wordpress templates are smartphone friendly - I was advised against Wordpress as it could not support responsive design at that time, might have changed now though.
