Actually I confess that I did consider upvc for the lack of future maintenance, but opted for timber in the end

eight grand, but that did include having the roof re-covered

Real contractors like Dim will have gold plated soffits.

Soffits are circa £5m for good quality of you buy them yourself. Get yourself a builder / roofer on a day rate and have them do it from a tower. You should get the whole lot done for well under £1,500. The chances are you ends don't need replacing / fixing, this is just a way to make additional profit.

Whatever you do, don't use one of the 'specialist' firms who advertise for this work as their prices are a real piss take.

                Gold probably is £5m. Maybe I meant £5 / mtr :-)

The last builder still hasn't completed the work he was contracted to do. By getting a roofing firm (in this case Anglian) to do the work I get a 10 year guarantee and they manufacture their own kit. Plus a string of British safety kite marks to their name.

I have faith, even though all the bad press.

My only suggestion would be not to use any firm that spells fascias wrong in their advertising - and there are many.

                    This one's particularly good.
