To be fair, talking to a woman as short as you it's bloody difficult not to look at your cleavage.Originally posted by MaryPoppins View PostHum. You are reminding me of the Programme Director at my last place.
Ex public school, wearer of awful flamboyant outfits and slapper of bottoms.
Referred to me as 'darling' until I asked him whether he actually knew my name. He was too busy looking at my cleavage to actually register my question.

That I doubt in all but a few cases. I looked up a few of the dull ones I knew several years ago on Friends Reunited, and yes, some were bankers and architects in far flung places. But of the others that I know of, there's a window cleaner, plumber, hotel manager, teacher, software seller, accountant, market trader, etc. i.e. plenty of downward mobility. Only one drug related suicide that I can recall. Plenty of divorces.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostWhat the private system has done is to enable the "dull and lazy" to get on in the world despite their shortcomings.Comment

Well I went to a secondary modern which I think turned into a comprehensive and as far as I can see, all the people that I knew there seem to have go on to pretty decent jobs (quite a few abroad) although many seem to have had at least one failed relationship behind them (and one has turned into a woman.) In fact a couple of them I know are actually pretty damned rich and influential (and thats not including me!)“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment
