Hmm, Russell Brand or a banker, who do I hate most?

One makes people laugh at the expense of some people he makes cry.

The other makes a few people laugh at the expense of many others crying.

Dear Russel, can you please get a job in a bank?

        Redux

I know we're way beyond the 4 hour lifespan of the average General thread, however for those with longer attention spans... Nic Cohen nails the vacuousness at the heart of Brand's appeal...

Instead of corrupt democratic leaders, Brand wants a "total revolution of consciousness and [of] our entire social, political and economic system" to stop the despoliation of the planet and allow the redistribution of wealth.

When Jeremy Paxman on the BBC tried to tell him that it would take a government to redistribute wealth and protect the environment, Brand could not say what type of government he wanted. How could he? If it were democratic it would be filled with his "frauds and liars". And if it weren't democratic, it would be a dictatorship.

I don't doubt that Russell Brand is as sincere as Miley Cyrus. I don't doubt either that to call his thought "adolescent" is to insult teenagers everywhere. He writes as if he is a precocious prepubescent rather than an adolescent: a child, born after the millennium, who can behave as if we never lived through the 20th century. He does not know what happened when men, burning with zealous outrage, created states with total control of "consciousness and the entire social, political and economic system" – and does not want to know either.
My subconscious is annoying. It's got a mind of its own.

As I've often said on here, although it's counterintuitive and I've no doubt most people used to simplistic conclusions must assume it's potty, national debt is the best guarantee of personal freedom. The more the merrier - Bring it on, until it can't go any higher and the government is completely painted into a corner.

A skint government is a healthy government, and a Government flush with cash becomes oppressive. History has shown that time and time again.

The IMF and "EU commissioners" aren't seeking to oppress the Greek people, only their government.

I wonder how much of his own wealth Mr Brand 'redistributes'? The trouble with these idealists is that they don't take human nature into account - you could take all the wealth in the world and divide it equally between all the people in the world but within 24 hours some would have lost it all and some would have doubled it - prime example Michael Carroll, Disgraced Lottery Winner Who Spent His Fortune On Drugs, Now Works In Cookie Factory

I would say what a loser - spunking 10 million in as many years - he need never have worked...

however I think the devil makes work for idle hands is the case here - unless he has to go to work to earn money he simple does not have the IQ level to not act like a child when his parents are not around.

A sad case but I reckon it will be true for many many of the b grade and below people in the UK.

Exactly, which is why wealth redistribution will never work - perhaps IQ redistribution would be more successful
