I gather that the rail companies instigate an emergency timetable as soon as they can when there's a hint of bad weather because then they can't be fined if a train runs late.Comment

season ticket holders get "compensation" to the tune of about 10-20% of what the journey would have cost. off-peak travellers don't count, they're there just to get the trains into the right place for commuters,Comment
