Landed at Luton airport a couple of hours ago. No problems whatsoever, not even windy.

edit: Roads on way home very rainy though. Lots of motorway signs saying 'very strong wind' but was just very wet.

No, the less trains, the more packed the trains and less overheads = more profit.

Each time a train is delayed for signal failures, trees on the line, track repairs, & congestion the train companies receive financial compensation from the government (several thousand pounds per delayed train)
The train companies make money out of delays.

Bit blowy round these parts. Up early to survey the devastation. Plastic garden chairs have all blown over. Bins still standing. Birdfeeders swinging rather than swaying.

(Does sound like there's some pretty strong gusts though.)

Just arrived in the office. Midlands Wet and Windy. M40 wet and not so windy. A34 Very Windy! M4 Very Very Windy! B3349 Wet, windy, dark, fallen trees. Never mind though, not missed a day of billing! Think of the money! Be interesting to see how many permies make it in considering the train disruption.

My Barbecue nearly blew off the decking. That could have been disastrous.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Why? Was it lit at the time?

It's a roughly 2ft drop and the barbeque weighs about 50kg, so it might have got damaged.

I guess you have to smile when a storm shuts down the transport network but still lets through inbound flights to Luton.
