Well the drive down wasn't too bad. Big of rain but not exactly lashing down.

        B*STARDS!

That means I'll have to work from home... on a Monday... when the clocks have just gone back so I can get up at five to nine by my body-clock and be at work by eight... time for a beer, methinks

There was a tree on one of the lines today so expect more to be blown over.

Though Network Rail are waiting on standby to clear stuff.

trees on the line, snow on the line, leaves on the line... jobs on the line?

I gather that the rail companies instigate an emergency timetable as soon as they can when there's a hint of bad weather because then they can't be fined if a train runs late.

Yep then if there are any massive issues they can claim compensation from Network Rail.

Another area where privatisation doesn't work........

They lose revenue, so I doubt they are very pleased about bad weather.

                    d'ya think?

season ticket holders get "compensation" to the tune of about 10-20% of what the journey would have cost. off-peak travellers don't count, they're there just to get the trains into the right place for commuters,
