Minimum price for a decent property in London ...

Yes, it's not that close. But so is Blackheath, Wimbledon or Putney where the smallest decent flat would cost you 500k. It's obviously true of all big cities that you have nicer and posher areas but in many other towns they are clearly separated. In London they are just next to each other, to the extent that one flat can cost 30% more just because it crosses the road and it falls into a posher postcode. Crazy I believe.I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light. -
This is the sort of "modest" house £1m gets you where I liveOriginally posted by sasguru...seems to be about £500K. That would be for a flat. For a modest house in a nice area, it's more like a million. How very depressing.

You have to put up with the tiny 1.2 acre garden and make do with only an outdoor heated swimming pool.

Why have that when you can have this lovely 2-bed flat for the same priceOriginally posted by DimPrawnThis is the sort of "modest" house £1m gets you where I live

Best example of this is Manhatten;Originally posted by Hart-flootIs n't that true of other big cities around the world?
For example, Paris. Where the well-to-do all live in certain arondissements and wouldn't dream of living in others!
Below 98th Street = upper east/west side
Above 104th Street = Ghetto area
Never understood why.

Why the f**k would you want to live in London anyway, its overcrowded, expensive and unhealthy. Why not commute or work elsewhere.Comment

Because houses outside are just as expensive, overcrowded and unhealthy, plus you spend more for transports and you lose most of your friends since you are tired of checking the clock for last train home and you stopped going out to London.Originally posted by DiestlWhy the f**k would you want to live in London anyway, its overcrowded, expensive and unhealthy. As long as you are willing to waste 4 hours everyday to commute. I'd rather spend a third of that, rent a room in London mon-thu and live in the weekend somewhere outside UK if I really wanted the luxury.Originally posted by DimPrawnSo I can have flat for £1M with a kitchen the size of my downstairs toilet in Laaaaaaaandaaaaaaan, pay congestion charges and be stabbed when I go out or have this instead?
Also you better be married with a very sexy woman to live in those places or else your sexual life will have to be biased towards other species.I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.Comment
