To be fair Scotland has its centres of excellence: banking in Edinburgh, oil in Aberdeen, manufacturing here and there. These hoover up the best Scottish graduates, the rest usually emigrate for work.
        Hard Brexit now!

I don't see what Scotland has to boast about in this list compared to England. Scotland's 2nd best university is 117th in the list. England has 13 higher entries and their quality is arguably much higher. Can you really compare Glasgow to Bristol, Durham and York, never mind Oxbridge, Imperial and UCL??? It might be free in Scotland but is it world class?
The ones in the story are moving up the ladder, those others you mentioned are standing still. The story is not about the 'best' as you put it, and neither did I say that. To quote the story:

Lists like this do not provide a definitive guide to which universities are the best - and do not suggest the degree a student gets from one institution is better than the one they might get at another - but they do give an indication of their international reputation.
Scotland has more institutions in the top 200 per head of population than any other country.
            That's quite a statement.

This is the point I'm wanting to convey, the gained reputation for attending these insistutions are born out of new science & discovery, not name.

I don't think anyone is taking what you say seriously any more. I reckon you're an embarrassment to Scots everywhere, certainly the ones it has been my pleasure to work with have not shown anywhere near as much cretinism as you display.
Now back to work, you'll need to save up for the winter bill for your poky little flat.

Does this take into account the fact that Scottish geniuses moving into England causes the average IQ to drop in both countries?

It's good you're copying and pasting quotes, at least the grammar will be right.

Cities in England have more public sector workers than any city in Scotland.
