Evra's rampant goal celebration knackered him for just long enough to be not up to defending the equaliser.

David Moyes sacked

True, it did take Ferguson a while but in fairness he didn't inherit the champions. When he took over they had finished 4th the previous season and in his first full season he took them to 2nd. Moyes on the other hand has took a team from 1st to 5th (and that is being rather hopeful).Originally posted by Doggy Styles View Post

United need a new defence and a new midfield. Buying them and bolting them together will take more than one close season. How long did it take Ferguson?
As you can tell, I'm not convinced Moyes is the man for the job but I'd love to be proven wrong!Comment

He is definitely not the man for the job. Outsiders looking in wondered how on earth they became champions last year anyway. Many believe that it was Ferguson's greatest achievement in cobbling something together behind the forwards and squeezing the last drops out of many of them.
Rio and Evra are showing their age, Vidic is leaving, and Rafael is not great defensively, so that's the first-choice champion-winning back four.
Carrick is getting old as well, Scholes is gone, Giggs is going, and Nani, Valencia and Young were inconsistent, so that's most of your championship midfield on the way out too.
Also, the coaching staff were overhauled and the chief executive changed.
Moyes was on a hiding to nothing before he started, and he hasn't got a Bryan Robson on the pitch.
Ferguson did things in his own inimitable way. Moyes is not Ferguson, he has to do the job his way, and that means changes behind the scenes as well, his approach and methods for everything from recruitment to the tea lady. That would be true of anyone who took over, and it will take years to do.Comment

Liverpool finished 2012/2013 in 7th, this year, they're challenging for the title.
If Spurs had managed to get Brenden Rogers, who they were in for, and he finished the first season in 7th, he'd more than likely of been fired.
I doubt Moyes is going to turn things around in the next year or so. Just look at what Martinez has done with Everton in one year to see what Moyes couldn't do in 10+. Still - different teams challenging at the top keeps things interesting. If at first you don't succeed... skydiving is not for you!Comment
