Money time and experience would be my guess.

Does UK law have an equivalent of entrapment? It seems to me that approaching a man or women tempting them with illicit excitement might fall into that category. Even if they are evil sick bastards that need removing from the gene pool in as brutal manner as possible.

The flip side to the knee jerk hate coin is despite the evil ones that are uncovered how many more are there out there that know they have a problem and are not happy with the triggers they have and want treatment without the baying mob?

There are so many minefields you can open up with this its way beyond self appointed judge dreads doing the needful. Whats next after we have found all the men or women that would openly prey on younger children? Uncovering men/women that fancy extra marital sex or have secret gay feelings while in straight relationships?

The way the herd can protect children is by making it unacceptable for kids as young as 10 to be playing on the internet unattended... Facebook needs a ******* good kicking as well as I know that 60% of my daughters class mates have accounts despite the supposed age restrictions.

I had to explain snapchat to the parents of one of my daughters friends the other week. It hadn't occurred to them why their 12 year old daughter might want to take images that only last a few seconds... They were horrified when I demonstrated that you could actually just take a second camera and snap the picture from the receiving phone without the knowledge of the sender. Let alone just screen grabbing the picture.

Indeed, I'm sure there are people who'd like to discuss their feelings with specialists and get treatment, and it also seems to me that it must be very difficult to research the mindset, causes and possible treatments or preventive approaches to paedophilia as long as the public is baying for blood. The research is extremely important, but it must be very difficult to carry out at the moment.

Are we talking about vigilante justic against suspected pedos, or vigilante honeytrap operations to gather evidence?

If bob wants to dress up like a school boy and tout himself out to middle aged men, I say that's his call. But There's nobody to blame but himself if he gets bummed.

The most controversial point in all this is that its very hard to discuss the "cure" for pedophile behaviour while there is a legitimate industry out there actively promoting the use of underage girls as models. One of the supermodels recently featured at ted giving a lecture on attitudes to modelling. She displayed a photo that she did for one of the big fashion labels being pressed up against the pelvis of a male model in an intense sexual pose. She juxtaposed that with a photo taken of her the same week on a beech as a happy 12 year old girl with her hair in a mess and building sand castles or digging in the sand...

Lets be clear the preying on or grooming of underage children is abhorrent and removing any adult that actively seeks to do so should be of utmost importance.

But its also important to stop the exploitation of the young for the sole purpose of using sex to sell high margin crap that no-one need.

You're saying they posed her as a 12yo girl in order to turn people on? Doesn't sound very likely.

That there fashion modelling world has a very dark side to it. Shocking to see what some 'designers' consider the ideal woman to show off their clothes. I use inverted commas around 'designer' because I think skilful design is about developing products that serve the user as opposed to adapting the user to fit the product. Obviously within reasonable boundaries; it would be difficult to design a formula one car for a morbidly obese wobbler.

Some designers seem to want young women to look more like 12 year old boys.

Cameron Russell: Looks aren't everything. Believe me, I'm a model. | Video on TED.com

Watch the talk yourself make your own conclusion about what they were trying to do... Better yet listen to her side of the story.

I did get the story slightly wrong though, The picture was of her in a bikini. The photo I described is later in the film and she explains that she had never had a boyfriend at the time...

                  Some parents are beyond comprehension.

Why would anyone dress their daughter as a prostitute then put pictures of her on facebook?

A 12 year old girl - heels, (very)mini-skirt, low cut top, standing in provocative pose. The mother's comments "My beautiful daughter, I'm so proud."

In the US they make a show out of it, called to catch a predator. One of my colleagues was raving about it.
The saddest was some guy with cerebral palsy who thought he'd got lucky after meeting a teen online and he arranged to meet her for sex. He got out of his disabled car, walked across on crutches, met the girl at the door & told her he'd bought condoms for their first time together

                    Entrapment video below.
