No that is going to become the worlds smallest principality. Either that or part of the empire of some country and not part of the UK at all. Or just make up a new county call 'Not Yorkshire' and it can sit in isolation.Originally posted by Troll View PostYou mean you'd take Bradford off our hands?'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!

Nowadays though everyone knows they will probably have to travel to work via some form of transport and for the majority it will still be personal transport as you simply cannot get to some of these technology parks/industrial estates etc on the public transport network.
I cannot see any major game changers to any of this - other than having more work from home/virtual environemnts for people to interact in rather doing it in person. (thinking about that it is maybe the bext option!)Comment

Perhaps we need to acknowledge that having 30 million people travel for 2 hours a day to get to and from work isn't a terribly efficient way to organise things and aim for a complete paradigm shift rather than a band aid.Originally posted by original PM View PostIndeed back in the 60's we were only just emerging from rationing etc and still had the thoughts of jobs on your doorstep for life.

My pet projects (completely unfeasable) are:
1) Heat water centrally and pipe hot water through insulated pipes to houses eliminating the need for individual boilers/storage tanks etc.
2) Under road heating for snowy/icy conditionsComment
