I believe that what Osborne means is that the banks are making money and property prices are rising. Since these two items have been the single barometer of economic prosperity in the last 20 years..maybe he's right?

TBH as long as house prices are rising and banks are paying eye watering bonuses, nothing else really matters.

Manufacturing and exporting is for dirty little foreigners. Probably all renters anyway so they don't count, filthy oiks.

You can do all the above AND ADDITIONALLY simply get free money for owning property in the UK.
And if you live in London/SE, when you retire you can buy anywhere in the world.

Yes, their not cheap. Must be about €3000 pcm.
