Aye. Only losers moan about the economy, to hide their own failings.
A house price collapse would be brilliant for expanding one's portfolio of property.
    Hard Brexit now!

making a full list (why don't they have one?) and selling off unused property is not the same as flogging off filled offices to a tax haven and renting them back.

I believe that what Osborne means is that the banks are making money and property prices are rising. Since these two items have been the single barometer of economic prosperity in the last 20 years..maybe he's right?

TBH as long as house prices are rising and banks are paying eye watering bonuses, nothing else really matters.

Manufacturing and exporting is for dirty little foreigners. Probably all renters anyway so they don't count, filthy oiks.

            WHS.
If you live in the UK, you use property as your prosperity escalator.
God knows what you do if you live in an exporting country: probably get a pittance providing small services to the exporters.

If you're dependent on manufacturing, you carry on invoicing, enjoy some nice meals in the evenings, buy a fast car, enjoy the weekends and then on Mondays log in to CUK for the pleasure of being told you're doing everything wrong!
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

                You're missing the point.
You can do all the above AND ADDITIONALLY simply get free money for owning property in the UK.
And if you live in London/SE, when you retire you can buy anywhere in the world.

                    Sorry to hear that.
And you have your office expenses/German taxes/house rent to think of too.
It must feel awful to pay someone else's retirement fund.
Still I suppose someone has to keep us property owning types in the style to which we are accustomed.
