Yes, but these weren't all youngsters so I can't put it down to the arrogance of youth I'm afraid.

Another thing. Clearly a fair few were there with dates/partners but ALL bought drinks separately. Without exception.

They had you marked out as a foreigner because you were standing at the bar

Thats a very German thing and I see it all the time, a couple out for a drink or a meal and when it comes to paying, they'll pay their own bills. You might notice that when you're their with someone else the waiter/waitress will always ask 'getrennt oder zusammen' (seperate or together.)

As for the posers, yes that is becoming quite common here, There are a hell of a lot of bars which have themes or put on themed evenings and most people seem to be twats. People open these places and they're extremely popular for a while as all the 'chiccy-miccy' crowd go to them until another one opens up and the first goes down the pot. Better off sticking to dodgy or established boozers without the fancy tulip...
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Salsa people are lovely. You owe it to yourself to go back on a Salsa night...

Why are so many people bothered by them? They're just young (-ish) people dressing the way many young people dress; a bit silly and off the wall. I remember the grungey times when jeans were ripped up and cardigans with holes in them were the thing to wear, preferably from a charity shop. All very silly but so what?

I think he was complaining about bad manners as opposed to crappy dress sense.
