The only thing they are going to be doing is supporting them as they are the only force currently able to wage a war against Assad. All the rest of the forces don't seem to have the balls (or insanity maybe).

Maybe, but one consequence of the actions of B Liar and Bush is that the public and parliament's belief that when the PM says there's a threat, there really is one, has been shattered.

Aside from all this, I don't think anybody's asked the really nasty, cynical question yet, so I'll do it; wars cost a lot of money. Can Britain afford this? Add to that, can Britain financially or strategically afford to have ships and subs and planes in the Med at the same time as Argentina is getting all uppity about the Falklands and Spain's doing its old routine over Gibraltar?

That's rubbish. Jihadists are pretty separate from Free Syrian Army - most people who fight are locals rather than foreign volunteers.

That's what the media you read is telling you.... Look at other sources and you will see that the main combatants are actually Al Qaeda affiliated groups who have come from all around the world (including the UK). They are backed and armed by Saudi/Qatar/Turkey.

Let's not forget that Assad still has a significant % of his population supporting him.....

Indeed...... The current unpopular pro-Islamist president supports the extremists in Syria - quite strange for such a secular country and I hope it changes when he get's the boot next time the elections come round.

Where did you get that info then? Anyway, maybe he supports them in the same sense as people support footy teams, but does he really arm them? Is he that short sighted?

Bin Laden was a CIA stooge, so yes they can be that short sighted

Turkey were never arming them, they were more a sympathizer than a supporter, recently they have tried to distance themselves from them.
