There is not going to be a need for 1.2m overhead linesmen.
I agree the state should not dictate employer/employee relations : it ought to get on with encouraging job creation (prefrably encouraging the private sector making stuff that people want) instead of throwing money at a handful of bankers.
However it seems that quite a few in government, like you, perpetuate this myth that most people are work shy. They will not be happy until the masses are enslaved. Even if the masses seem to be tolerating there enslavement without too much protest.Comment

I think we spend more than enough on state education to provide everyone here with a decent basic education, but I observe that for even bright clever kids in some of our sink schools they just dont get that decent basic education. I would be locking up some of the teachers and education authority staff for gross failure...Comment

I think the more you allow employers to treat people like this the more you will disincentivise people who actually are willing to work hard and be flexible about what they are willing to do. Eventually you will have no choice but to recruit the workshy, feckless and criminal.
Nothing incentivises people more than not having any money to put bread on the table.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment
