Don't buy an A3 - they are crap. I got one as a short term fix last year when I couldn't take any more of my Jag XJ's unreliability. It's more reliable than the Jag - but then a Gaz Chaika with no service history would have been. That aside it is just junk - it is a Golf in drag so you might as well buy the Golf and get some actual suspension and keep your fillings.

Was that a new type XJ or an older model?

What kind of idiot would take an Alfa Romeo to a dealer? It's Alfa Romeo that put the bloody faults in them, they're not going to repair them properly. Take it to some independent bloke that knows Italian cars; it'll cost about a third as much as the dealer and you might actually have a decent functioning car. If he can't make it work at least he'll switch the bloody warning lights off for a few quid instead of a few hundred quid.

Something the same size and weight as a barge.... for a bird? Even with parking sensors that's not going to work.

So my wife and me are on our way to the train station this morning, and the car had an orgasm.

The 159 (and Brera) are a huge step forward in terms of quality and reliability.
