    Child Support Agency facing axe

The measures are intended to reduce child poverty

The troubled Child Support Agency (CSA) is being axed, while absent parents face being electronically tagged, under plans to be announced by ministers.
<Human Rights Act will surely stop this?>

Parents will be encouraged to make their own arrangements over child maintenance,
    <So it's back to square One then?>

with a new agency focusing on parents who refuse to co-operate.
<If all else fails -change the name: should be good for EDS et al>

New powers would prevent absent parents from going out after work and allow passports to be confiscated.
<anyone else think this is a bit scary?>
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

    You know it makes sense.

Anyone suspected off doing or not doing something should be tagged and have their identities removed from society.

This is the way to utopia.

This is great stuff, stop absent parents from going out after work. It's up there with improving border security by giving immigration officials new uniforms and stopping hackers accessing the internet...

Bless NL, they're trying - very fecking trying.

      Older and ...well, just older!!

The really scarey thing is that after all this time there are still plenty of people who will vote for them.
I didn't particularly like the Tories when they were in power, but they didn't terrify me like this lot.
And whenever I see that disgrace for a human being John Prescott's smug, piggy face the voices in my head start shouting very loud
        Boom boom boom boom
        A-haw haw haw haw
        Hmmm hmmm hmmm hmmm

Its not enough in my book.

Why not have everybodys passport confiscated and to get in back you have to go in person to the the Ministry of Freedom to reapply for your passport ?

Then again you may not get your passport back , perhaps you might be invited to stay for an unspecified period at the Ministry for Freedom to help further assist with their enquiries ?

That would certainly cut the red tape for passport applications.

It will be cheaper to link the information into the identity cards. If absent parents try to go abroad the card will stop them or if they produce their card as identity to draw money it will ring alarm that they have not paid their child support. Even better, when parents get divorced they would have to produce there identity card and then the government could keep track on them.. As long the general public behave and they have nothing to hide a little government suspicion won't hurt anyone.

Was that Brazil as in the Terry Gilliam film?
