Say it takes 3 hours of your time. In 5 years you will save £330. Seems worth it to me.

Anyway... has anyone tried asking HSBC for options? If so what did they offer?

Most banks still rely on the fact people think it will go wrong. It does if the bank does it. It doesn't if you DIY.
I like HSBC, they've been very helpful and professional.

When they get as crap as Barclays I'll find another bank.

In fact, I'm seriously considering moving my personal accounts to HSBC.

I've heard enough horror stories not to go near them.

Go for first direct not HSBC but the fact I can phone them and it's answered straight away is a winner from me. I paid for Lloyd's and they didn't have the decency to answer the call without putting me on hold for 5 minutes

No letter for me yet, but I would imagine it's because in a rare moment of joined-upped ness they've realised that I get a fee-free period as a new bod.

Or of course it might be in the next post

Well I'm still in my fee-free period with them, and I got the letter a couple of days ago. Clearly joined-upness only goes so far...

The letter clearly states that people in promotions will start paying after the promotional period ends.

First don't do business accounts by any chance?
