    I think it's hard for people in good loving relationships to understand what it's like to be in a toxic or dead relationship. Especially if the other one somehow thinks it's normal to not have intimacy or that violent or threatening behaviour is acceptable.

                      The relationship I had prior to marrying was like this. Treacherously toxic, but neither of us wanted to leave, fighting tooth and nail to secure something that wasn't there. I left only when my friends were laughing at the injuries I used to get from fights with her.

                      Used to make me laugh too, but no one would have been laughing had it been me doing the attacking.

                      I think it is having such a bad relationship that makes you realise a good one is worth fighting for when it becomes tough going, for every relationship will have it's tough times.
