            It's absolutely one of my favourite sci-fi films. I must have seen it 8-9 times

            Having said that, there's some other great shouts on this thread, such as Dark Star, Flesh Gordon (!!).

            But are they "Space" films? Apollo 13 and The Right Stuff are both good. And Moon, which I'd also class as a "space" film.

                    More syfy than space, but Blade Runner by a mile. Latest Star trek was good as well. Strictly space, Silent Running.
