I think the big difference was Liverpool kept their best player, where as you sold yours!Originally posted by Stevie Wonder BoyI can't see any way to do it can you please advise?

and Liverpool players respected Rodgers where as the Spurs players clearly didn't if what Tim says in the press is to be believed. Supply teacher springs to mind. He always seemed like a stop gap, and I think I said on his appointment they will replace him with A.N.Other at season end.Originally posted by SimonMac View PostI think the big difference was Liverpool kept their best player, where as you sold yours!Comment

And they replaced him with lots of players of much lower quality. Only Eriksen, in my opinion, has added anything to the squad.Originally posted by SimonMac View PostI think the big difference was Liverpool kept their best player, where as you sold yours!
They should have bought fewer players, but better ones.Comment

Which better players do you think they should have signed (who would have realistically signed for Spurs)? It's tricky for a club just below the CL as we need CL players to compete with the top 4, but can't attract them because we're not in the CL.
It would of been better if we kept Bale, but when RM came in for him, I don't think there was anything we could have done except negotiate the highest price possible. If at first you don't succeed... skydiving is not for you!Comment

Indeed and when RM come with £70 million for Suarez he will be off an Liverpool will be back to mid table mediocracy.Originally posted by TheBigD View PostGood point.

True, and although I think they bought the wrong players, I think they did the right thing swooping in for them all before they'd even sold Bale so that they got better value for money, rather than being ripped off because other teams know you've got a wedge of cash burning a hole in your pocket (what I call the Andy Carroll effect).Originally posted by TheBigD View PostGood point.

In which case they should understand that in football financial success follows sporting achievement, and building the sort of club culture where loyal long term ex players remain part of the setup helps achieve that. Short termism doesn't.Originally posted by original PM View PostEmotional attachment is of no value to the boardroom as they only understand financial attachment.
Arguably that's why Sherwood was at the club in the first place, but they shouldn't have given him the job as a stopgap. Having handed him the reigns they can't really send him back to what he was doing before, so now they've lost out there as well. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. I don't think he will. Real are a great team but he won't be the undisputed jewel in the crown there, and his odds of winning the CL with Liverpool aren't actually that bad if they sort their defence out. I also think the new owner has made it clear he's not interested in selling his best players.Originally posted by original PM View PostIndeed and when RM come with £70 million for Suarez he will be off an Liverpool will be back to mid table mediocracy. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. sadly
also think what a huge payday the player will get for a 70/80 million move.Comment

Of course you can. The deciding factor is really whether the player wants to go or the club wants rid of them. Ronaldo to Madrid was inevitable because the player wanted to go. If Ronaldo had actually wanted to stay at Man U they'd have kept him. As it was they had no choice but to hold out for the best price.Originally posted by original PM View Postyeah but if someone comes in with stoopid money you cannot turn it down
I don't think Suarez leaving is likely after this season, that might change if next year is a disaster. I don't think City would part with Yaya Toure either. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'Comment
