    Get rid.
I'm attached to my 16 year old 4x4 ...passed it's MOT this year with 260k on the clock only needing the number plate bulbs replacing
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

And if it needed £600 worth of work, would you get it done?

It cracked it's head @ 135k miles - agonised about whether to dump it then but decided to replace which iirc cost me £1000 to do myself - that was 8 years ago and it's been fine since - if it went now (and the vehicle is only worth <£1000) it would be scrapped

actually it wouldn't be scrapped.. I'd put it in a wooden boat and cast adrift while shooting flaming arrows into the boat with evocative music playing in the background - a send off worthy of an old warrior

Fair enough. You're clearly not as attached to it as you were at 135K.

That said, my girl has only done 98K. I usually reckon a car should cost £600 a year to run. Tyres, servicing, MOT, minor running repairs. So if she comes out of this she owes me 2 years trouble free service. So then something owes me! Not me owing someone else!

              If you follow my logic.

If you did £1000 worth of work on a car with 37K more miles on it then I don't feel quite such a tit, so thanks for your honesty.

At which point the police phoned up.

Same pair of scumbags later broke into my garage to steal a petrol can of petrol, nicked my neighbour's boat & made off down the canal to where their scooter was out of petrol.

Being twostroke, I hope the fecker seized up on them.

Cheapskates. I've done £1600 on a clutch and flywheel, new brakes all round, service and MOT. Got the cambelt coming up soon. And I only get about 25mpg.

Perhaps I should look for a cheaper car...
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'
