There are quite a few bars along the rue d'aerschot you minds like.

I would third a trip to Leuven, beautiful town, a good friend of mine was at Uni there. There are some very good restaurants along very narrow streets which create a brilliant atmosphere in the evenings. I would also recommend going to Antwerp for a few brewery tours as although the Stella brewery in in Leuven, the tour there isn't that good.

All the way to Belgium for a beer drinking holiday.. what a dull vacuous life you lead.
I suppose any cultural interest in Belgium is completely beyond you

If you head north east out of the Grand Place, i.e Town hall on your left, do down to the Stock exchange and over the road (and left abit with stock exchange behind you) there are lots of little quaint back street bars and cafes which had a great atmosphere on a warm night. Can't comment on the quality of the beer but it seemed to be the locals hang out and nice continental sitting on the street option.

Cheers everyone. Looks like Leuven will be on the itinerary as well as some of the other suggestions.

As for your suggestion Troll, if traipsing round the Atomium looking at Tintin comics is your thing then go right ahead. Or getting your rocks off taking snaps of the Mannekin Pis gives you a stiffy, good luck.

lol - I have to say that the Atomium is worth a visit - even if it is just to break up the drinking!

Model village not bad either - but no better than Legoland.

Mannequin Pis is just a small statue on the corner of some non descript streets - blink and you could easily walk paste it and never know.

But beyond that Brussels has very little to offer in the way of culture anyway.

I agree. I contracted there on two occasions, one 3-monther and one 6-monther. There did not seem to be an awful lot worth seeing really.
