What really depresses me is that we still have Scottish representation in our parliament, assisiting in giving the Labour party more seats that it should.

So....come the vote, if you boys up there behave and vote for independence, you get what you want, we get rid of you (and Labour) and everyone is happy. Except the scrounging socialists, and who cares about them anyway.

But they didn't. They depressed the development of IT by encouraging a lack of investment. This made british companies uncompetitive and ripe for takeovers, which indirectly created a lot of integration work.

The other big innivation was the perpetual upgrade cycle, and that is an entirely American contribution.

There were plenty of private companies who used and promoted IT even if public sector ones might have been slow to adopt it.
The person who did most to stimulate IT in the UK was probably Sir Clive Sinclair.
