Yes. They are either former government monopolies, who usually haven't noticed that anything has changed; or get-rich-quick schemes often owned by a company whose original business is something else entirely.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View Posthmm?Job motivation: how the powerful steal from the stupid.Comment

Compare your companies net profit with the average Telecom companies. If they are tulip what does that make you?Originally posted by Mich the Tester View Posthmm?Comment

Look, life for a lot of people is not about 'look how much money we've made' (actually KPN aren't making much). People with a life and not just a bank account actually care about doing a decent job and feeling good about it; profit is the reward for doing so. If our wondrous market economy is failing to reward competence and diligence, then it's time our economic model is rebuilt.Last edited by Mich the Tester; 4 April 2013, 14:39.And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? On the original question:
As a service company for consumers: Yep
As a service company for small and medium sized businesses: Yep
As a service company for large businesses: Yep
As an employer: Yep
As a B2B customer: Yep
As a contractor client: Yep
On the point above about KPN, I worked with them in 2000/1 on a contract in The Hague and they were a decent bunch. Probably the only telecoms contract I've enjoyed.Comment

Oh, they have some nice people working there, it's just that the service to the customer is utterly abysmal. Now the evangelists of privatised services will tell us that we can all switch to another provider, but that's the trouble; the other providers are tulipe too. There is not one telecoms provider in this country with decent customer satisfaction ratings.Originally posted by craig1 View PostOn the original question:

Profit is indeed reward, so any company making a good profit is by definition doing a good job for it's customers.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostIt makes me more interested in doing a decent job.
