Without Googling would you like to take a guess at the average reading age of a British Army recruit?

That's understandable - Lawes is certainly the most useless player ever to put on an England Rugby shirt
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

Erm, I disagree; he's a good 2nd row but experimenting with him in the back row failed; I think someone underestimated the difference there and perhaps thought that any old large fit dimwit could play flanker. That may have been the case 20 years ago, but not now.

No, but I googled and it's even lower than I would have expected.

Take those people, put them in a situation where for a short time they are useful and earn respect and self-respect, then throw them "back to the same environment they came from and often tried to escape by joining the army" (as Andy McNab put it), where "with few qualifications or skills, a person's employment chances [are] limited once out of the army, where its "tribal system" had looked after them." Is it any wonder it doesn't always work?

I don't blame the ex-squaddies, I blame the Army more, and the Government most of all.

Yep, I've googled it too now; 11. Scary, but it leads me to wonder whether their reading age is higher after they leave the forces?

now that I can support, have you watched 'Bowling for Columbine'?

they are specifically targeted as they are the most likely to sign up. The ones that the education system has failed (sorry I think anyone who has such a low reading age and is not disabled must have been failed).

They were also targeted after discharge by a number of companies because they were considered better than the general public at some jobs (security etc).

Madness, I have trained to fight for years and have done so many times both in competition and for real but seriously taking on one of those guys? Lunacy, absolutely lunacy. If you did not personally know the people I would be tempted to think it was an old wive's tale.

Have any of the guys you know who have had this had any trouble flooring these idiots?
