Rio Ferdinand demonstrates time and again that he is possibly the most stupid person playing football in the premier league.

    Is he special needs?

Having your foot up on your own is not an offence. The argument seems to be that Nani didn't know Arbeola was there until he played the ball. If that's true it shouldn't have been red.

If not, the ref might have interpreted it as reckless or even violent conduct. The rules have probably changed, the old 'dangerous play' used to be just a yellow and an indirect free kick.

By the way, anyone seen footage of McCreadie's chest-high, two-footed challenge on Bremner in that 1970 FA Cup final? That's a proper reckless challenge and it wasn't even given as a free kick.

Football was a contact sport in the 70s though.

Can you imagine someone like Norman Hunter saying 'There was contact there so the striker was entitled to go down' ??
When freedom comes along, don't PISH in the water supply.....

You can clearly see that Nani is watching the flight of the ball. To me its a yellow at the most.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

          I preferred version 1!
