I think he is right. Its currently very embarrassing to be an Arsenal fan. Lost to lower league clubs in FA and Capital one cup. Got hammered at home in Champions League. Lost to Tottenham whom we regularly thrashed. This season has seen the lowest of the lows. Problem is the club's reluctance to buy an established player by splashing some cash. I think Arsenal will end up 7th or 8th this season.

There is no denying that we are at one of our lowest ebb's in a long time, this season may be a write off (its just unfortunate that our worse and their best season come at the same time), next year when we get rid of £25m worth of mediocre, but large salaried players, add in the extra revenue from commercial deals Ivan the Terrible has been brought in to negotiate and given that Spurs will only be able to hold onto Bale for a certain amount of time (look at Mordic), and not even the most rose tinted Spurs fan can deny he is a massive difference to your team, he is the gem among good players and when he goes the balance of power will swing back to the Red side of North London.

More like you realise the only way you can achieve is for someone else to gift an open goal.

An open goal, with 10 men standing in front of it holding their ballbags, and one man standing in it wearing gloves with the permission to dive and handle the ball versus a bloke kicking it over the wall from 35 yards out is not an open goal.

Doing this twice in a game is pretty special. Granted spurs have become a bit of a one man team, but nonetheless we are doing well.

Arsenal lost concentration and were put to the sword.

I would have thought there would be a new section for the seasons you finished above Arsenal ?

It could go between

Ipswich Hospital Charity Cup Winners 1951/1952 (joint)

and

Costa Del Sol Tournament Winners 1965, 1966

Spurs in 10th. Arsenal 5 places above us in 5th, Liverpool in 3rd (ahead of chelsea) and ManUre in 1st (of course).

So arsenal are beating us at something.
