Tottenham have blown so many opportunities to swing the pendulum of north London power their way in recent seasons. This time they must make it count.
Spurs have managed to win only five of the last 20 meetings where they have scored the opening goal. At the Emirates in November, the visitors looked commanding at 1-0 up in the first 10 minutes through Emmanuel Adebayor. But then the striker now loathed by his old Arsenal supporters got himself stupidly sent off. Arsenal took charge and won 5-2.
Andre Villas-Boas knows a victory will propel his Spurs team a huge way towards the Champions League, leaving the Gunners seven points adrift of their arch-rivals with 10 games to play. Tottenham are unbeaten in 11 games. Gareth Bale is in the form of his life with 12 goals in his last 12 games. Adebayor will be on a mission of redemption. They'll never have a better chance to convincingly become the top side in the capital.
May the better team win. And by better I mean with higher league position and better run of form with tighter defense.
