You know, I don't disagree with that at all. From a purely pragmatic perspective, you're certainly right. But there's also quite a big portion of representative value that's expected of global political leaders, and from that angle I'd sure prefer someone who's 'got it all' to someone who merely 'could do the job'.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostNot saying the job's easy, but I think there are a lot of people in business who can do that.

I really think that whatever the merits or otherwise of university education, it's just about the least important matter when thinking of reasons why I wouldn't support Mr Farage. And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment

Churchill (not Spod) didn't go to university. He went to Sandhurst, which I am sure provides a very good education, but it's basically a semi-vocational training for army officers an not a university. He did quite well. And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment

I think when it comes to Farage, I'd take him no more seriously if he was Oxbridge PhD-ed. So along the same lines, the fact that he's had a 'proper job' (to quote DA) isn't helping in the least.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostI really think that whatever the merits or otherwise of university education, it's just about the least important matter when thinking of reasons why I wouldn't support Mr Farage.Comment

Good trivia question, who was the last PM (or opposition leader) with a proper science/engineering degree? Do any of the cabinet come from such backgrounds?Originally posted by sasguru View PostI think the type of education matters.
Humanities graduates (Oxbridge or otherwise) don't seem to be very good at governing the country.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
