Contractor at FDM Group

I'm thinking of becoming a contractor at FDM. I've looked at their website and they give very little info - they seem to focus on recruiting junior people!

Does anybody know anything about them? Is work project-based? Are they good at finding jobs for you? What sort of jobs would a contractor at FDM get?

Assuming this isn't a sockie post. They do the usual contract setup which everyone will be familiar with (which is what I did last time I worked with them). They also have this 'mountie' thing where they body shop junior perms in under the guise of 'you are getting junior people who are being trained cheaply'.

Wouldn't touch the 2nd type personally, but at least it's more honest than some of the other consulting companies.

I've just had a look at their website and it seems they specialise in employing graduates. So I'm curious, why would you want to contract there?

Do they do 'normal' recruitment agency stuff too? I got the impression (from about 30 seconds glancing over the site) that they were doing the normal consultancy thing, get graduates in, pay them 25k a year and charge them out at £1000 a day.

Could this be a cultural misunderstanding? They mention contractors but the company seems very US centric, does contracting mean the same there as it does here?

I interviewed with them back in 2007 and was not impressed with their consultancy style position, so I went Ltd and found another role with another agency.

From what you say it seems they play the standard agency type role too.

OK. I was definitely thinking the 1st type. It seems from what you say that the two types aren't linked. Do they generally go for more junior contractors? Also wanted to check - do FDM have a reputation when it comes to "regular contracting"?

Don't quite know what you mean by a 'reputation'. They were fine with me when I worked through them as a senior consultant/systems admin. Paid on time etc etc.

I have no idea what they specialise in, I just take work where I find it.

the groups of FDM'ers I have worked near have always been the grads that didnt make the grad schemes.
Some of them saw promotion as permie roles in the banks they were fdm'er at - but there is a tie in time period or deal to be made to go perm there.
