The view of the contents of cojak's handbag will do that to anyone. -
Another student tale. This was when Southampton won the FA Cup. I was watching telly the night before the match and it struck me that everyone was predicting they would lose. The odds were 16-1 which meant that the last 3 quid something I had at the time would have netted me the best part of fifty quid at the bookies if they did win.Originally posted by d000hg View PostGood story but you could embellish it a bit [more]... you found a tenner and went into the bookmakers where there was a race just starting and a horse was called 'banjo' so you slapped on the £10 at 6/1.
I was doing a lot of sport myself at the time and I just got good vibes about Southampton's chances. They had after all won the matches necessary to get to Wembley and had the advantages of being the underdog.
I am sad to say I chickened out of putting my money down, because the idea of starving if they lost was too much to face. A victory for common sense, defeat for risk taking.Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment
