Another student tale. This was when Southampton won the FA Cup. I was watching telly the night before the match and it struck me that everyone was predicting they would lose. The odds were 16-1 which meant that the last 3 quid something I had at the time would have netted me the best part of fifty quid at the bookies if they did win.

I was doing a lot of sport myself at the time and I just got good vibes about Southampton's chances. They had after all won the matches necessary to get to Wembley and had the advantages of being the underdog.

I am sad to say I chickened out of putting my money down, because the idea of starving if they lost was too much to face. A victory for common sense, defeat for risk taking.

That's because I understand you're a jealous twunt who assumes everyone is as much of a loser as yourself.

After school waiting for university results, didn't get the uni I wanted in Ireland and settled on second best and had put the deposit down on the course.

The week before I was due to start, I got an offer at at UK uni doing the course I wanted in London ( UK unis seem to offer later than Irish ones), so ended up over in blighty and never looked back.
