I think you'll find its because I've worked more than 100 hours this month :-)
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

I remember a few years ago amid the credit fuel boom how economists would be invited on tv to criticise the german economy, saying how old fashioned and inflexible it was, while lauding the UK's service and financial economy as being the way forward...

Very true. But as I've said before, if economists knew anything about anything they'd all be filthy rich.
        Hard Brexit now!

Why wouldn't age or average working age or some other demographic marker not appear as a significant variable in a stepwise regression?
Read the original comment you wrote (I quoted it for you) and not the corrected version after you realised you were talking out of your arse.

The problem with muppets like you is that eventually you speak too early without thinking and end up sending yourself or others on a wild goose chase. A couple of hours of research prior to starting an investigation can save days or months of work. But sadly that's something most managers are no longer bright enough to understand.

Or you can print two charts and conclude with whatever irrelevant thought comes to your little brain.
Seems like you and Dim have a lot in common.
I think we can tell all we need to know about 'advanced statistics' by the fact it's the core of climate change and economic models, the two 'sciences' which are utterly unable to make useful predictions.

I changed my post before I saw yours. SR carried out blindly can be misleading, subject matter expertise is crucial. However in the absence of the latter, it can provide useful hints.

When did I say I wouldn't investigate before starting anything?

God you really are thick. Thanks for proving it.

In your original "Look at me I'm so clever" comments. Oh and your comment at the top of this page when you clearly prove that you don't understand what econometrics is.

For the hard of thinking such as Sas its the subset of economics that uses mathematical formulas and statistics to create or confirm economic models.

Well false modesty never really helped anybody
Judging by most of the comments on this thread, it's clear why so many of you in IT are being bobbed - the barriers to entry are low.

I don't know how they are counting these figures but I do not believe for one second that long term unemployed was ever as low as 1.2% in the UK
