Hi
I attended an interview the other day and a little bit suspicious … all went fine but they need another week to decide whether they offer me the job or not ...
I have a feeling that they had already made an offer to the candidate whom they interviewed couple of days prior to me…. and only interviewed me as a plan B.
Is this is possible? Does it happen often in real life?
Of course it happens. Flip it around. If you had been burned by contractors not accepting roles wouldn't you have a few in the back pocket? Same in permie land. Either way, makes no diff to you, still have to turn up and be interviewed. You never know, if you make a good impression they may call you direct for the next piece of work so not a complete waste of time.Comment

i say because when i asked agent about other candidates being invovled she said ... there is one other guy involved but he lives very far from this city and his circumstances are complex!
could be that they dnt want to hire someone from other city for a permie jobComment

I do this all the time. When I have free time to kill and no work I just schedule an interview with some mug, I make him come all the way first thing in the morning, make him sit in the lobby for an hour and then grill his head out with obscure C# questions. I never hear from them again.Vote Corbyn ! Save this country !Comment

Don't torture yourself over it. If there was news the agent would be all over you, otherwise assume its no go and carry on searching.Comment
